St. Catharines, ON - The Niagara River Lions announced today the signing of 6’5 American guard Ahmed Hill ahead of the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The Augusta, Georgia native is currently playing for Peristeri BC of the Greek HEBA A1 , averaging 6.3 points and 2.9 assists in 18.7 minutes per game. A proven scorer and consistent performer, Hill averaged 16.1 points and 4.2 rebounds during the 2024 CEBL season with the Montreal Alliance . He was named to the All-CEBL Second Team in both 2021 and 2023 and made league history in 2023 by becoming the first player to surpass 1,000 regular season points. “Having had the chance to coach against Ahmed for years, I have come to really respect the way he plays the game and the type of teammate he is,” said Head Coach and General Manager, Victor Raso. “While known for his scoring, I believe Ahmed impacts the game in many more ways than that, and with the role that he will have on this team, I know he will thrive. This is a big addition for our program and I'm very excited to have Ahmed on our side!” Hill spent his collegiate career at Virginia Tech University , playing four seasons for the Hokies where he averaged 11 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 30 minutes per game. Hill also proved his excellence off the court as he was named to the 2018-2019 ACC Academic Honour Roll. He scored 15 points, including three 3-pointers, six rebounds, and an assist against Duke in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Hill began his professional career by joining the Brooklyn Nets NBA Summer League team in 2019 where he gained valuable experience playing 18.2 minutes per game. He went on to sign with the Northern Arizona Suns of the NBA G-League , appearing in 40 games and posting averages of 9.7 points and 3.0 rebounds during the 2019-2020 campaign. During the 2020-2021 season Hill played 11 games for the Greensboro Swarm . Hill made his CEBL debut with the Guelph Nighthawks (now Calgary Surge) playing in the 2021 and 2022 seasons before joining the Montreal Alliance in 2023 and 2024. Internationally, Hill has expanded his professional resume by signing with Hydro Truck Radom of the Polish Basketball League (OBL) , BBC Bayreuth of Germany’s Basketball Bundesliga (G-BBL), Maroussi BC in Greece’s HEBA A1 league, Hapoel Upper Galilee Safed of Isreal’s Ligat Winner Sal and Yalovaspor Basketbol in Turkey’s Basketbol Super Ligi. St. Catharines, ON - The Niagara River Lions announced today the signing of 6 '9 American forward Antonio Junior “AJ” Davis ahead of the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The Buford, Georgia native will return to Niagara after his most recent stint with the team in 2024, where he missed the majority of the season due to a hip injury. “Entering his 4th season with our program, AJ has played a crucial role in our culture both on and off the floor”, said Head Coach and General Manager, Victor Raso. “His leadership during his injury last season played a massive role in our championship, and we are excited to see him as a leader back on the floor in 2025.” In three seasons with the River Lions, Davis averaged 11 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 46 games. He last played internationally during the 2023-2024 season for the Stella Artois Leuven Bears of the BNXT League in Belgium, where he averaged 11.9 points and 4.4 rebounds, shooting 42% shooting from beyond the arc. Davis started his college career at the University of Tennessee b efore transferring to the University of Central Florida (UCF) his sophomore year. In three seasons with the Knights, he averaged 10.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Davis became an accomplished NCAA athlete, scoring 1030 points over his time in college, finishing 8th all-time in rebounds at UCF (633), and 7th in free throws (319). He earned Second Team All-Conference honours from NBC Sports and was named to The American Weekly Honour Roll five times during his senior year. Growing up, Davis was no stranger to the game of basketball; his father, Antonio Davis, was drafted 45th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the 1990 NBA draft. St. Catharines, ON – The Niagara River Lions announced today that youth groups and organizations can now apply to take part in the Niagara Trailers High 5 Tunnel at all 2025 home games. This exciting initiative gives groups of 10 to 20 children the chance to stand courtside and high-five River Lions players as they enter the court for pre-game warm-ups. After the tunnel experience, participants will stay to cheer on the team from the Niagara Trailers row. Groups are encouraged to apply for this FREE opportunity by completing the online form available now through May 9, after which 11 groups will be selected to participate. St. Catharines, ON - The Niagara River Lions announced today the return of 6’6” American guard Omari Moore for the upcoming 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The 24-year-old Pasadena, California native rejoins the River Lions for the 2025 season. Moore is currently playing overseas in Turkey for DarüÅŸÅŸafaka Lassa in the Basketbol Süper Ligi (T-BSL), where he has had an impressive season averaging 14.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 25 games, showcasing his continued growth and versatility on the international stage. “Omari is a phenomenal young basketball player with an incredibly high ceiling and we are excited to have him back with us this summer” said General Manager and Head Coach Victor Raso, “He was an integral part to us winning the CEBL Championship last year, he is excellent in all phases of the game, and is a winner. Welcome back O! Moore returns to Niagara after a standout 2024 season, during which he played a key role in helping the River Lions capture their first-ever CEBL championship. Midway through the season, Moore joined the Toronto Raptors in NBA Summer League, but quickly returned to the River Lions to finish what he started. Over 16 games, he averaged an impressive 11.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. His defensive presence was felt across the league, finishing third overall and first among guards with 20 total blocks—an average of 1.4 per game. His all-around impact earned him recognition as a CEBL Defensive Player of the Year finalist. Prior to his professional career, Moore played four seasons at San José State University , averaging 11.1 points, 3.7 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in 116 games. Moore scored 1312 points over his time with the Spartans earning his place as the 4th highest scorer in San Jose State history. During his senior year, he averaged 17.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists over 35 games, and made history by becoming the first player in program history to be named Mountain West Player of the Year. He also earned First Team All-Mountain West honors and was selected to the NABC All-District 17 First Team. Moore started his professional career as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA Summer League team in 2023, and went on to sign with the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League , where he averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
